The all around independant suspension on this thing is actually off-road racing suspension....it looks like this is set up for the Baja or Dakar (Suspension wise anyway).....its pretty serious performance system.

If this was made into production, I highly doubt that it will come with that same system, and the looks of it will change more into a "mainstream" appearance.....and certainly, that Hemi motor its running would drop down significantly....

Basically....remember all the radical concepts Jeep had for the Unlimited (Rescue & Dakar Versions)....a highly mobile highly capable research and rescue unit for global adventure and wilderness.....that changed in a blink to suit rock crawling..........ALSO....remember the Compass concepts....that was originally designed to be a rally racer and Dakar concept to.....SLAMMED down to eco-friendly family wagon.

It seems the designers and concept people at Jeep are on the right track.....but the decision makers are so far out in left field.....

With the gas prices the way they are, air travel costs on the rise with fuel surcharges, people are looking more towards road travel to local but out of the way locations.....the Rescue, Dakar, and Compass concepts would have been perfect for that.....but no, they have to take it from PG-13 to G.....because its "safe"......

If there was a Rescue / Dakar available....beleive me, those things would DESTROY the Land Rover market.....but I guess the decision makers are too near sighted......

I mean, they can come out with crazy cars like the Prowler, Charger RT, Challenger RT.....but anything awesome from Jeep is unheard of.....they need to take this mild crap and go wild a little like Dodge has.

Anyway.....check out these nice concepts:

Jeep Rescue (AKA Calmed down to 2007 JK Unlimited)

Jeep Dakar (AKA Calmed down to Jeep LJ 1996-2006)

Compass Concept (AKA Calmed down to Family friendly Compass / Patriot)

Weep and Enjoy....ugh BRING BACK THE DAKAR AND RESCUE!!!!!!! UGH UGH UGH

Very often it's a hard decision which way companies will go.

The bottom line, the market must be able to bear such a vehicle.

It has to make financial sense. Diehard fanatics often wonder why, but right now as it stands a manufacturer looks at making money after 3 yrs of production. With a minimum of 100,000 units per year, these numbers add up and must turn into sales.

If you want to run with smaller then numbers than 100,000 units annually, then the price skyrockets to where blue collar workers would not be able to afford it.

Having said that, it's a different market now. The gobal market has seen huge increase in consumer luxaries. With the China and Indian markets coming on line right now, there might actually be a reason to build such a vehicule.
