A MNR Survey for Brighton Trail reopening needing responses B4 April 19th
Hi All,
Since I still sit on the "Land Use" committee with OF4WD ... in conjunction with the EOTB Board..... If you don`t mind taking the time to Go to the link below and put in comments on the survey that you are an "Off roader" using Jeeps not ATV's etc.
As trails like this one have been shut down one by one by the Ministry. You may have access to local trails now... But this will come to a neighborhood near you soon.
This trail was shut down to us a few years ago....... but has potential with the outcome of responses to be reopen to off roading. This survey must be completed and submitted by April 19th www.bpwasurvey.ca
Please take the time to fill this out. It is all on line (And BTW they did not make us aware of this survey's existence .... maybe they didn't want our opinions? makes you think don't it?)
All The Best and Thank You
Zeb

Here's a thread about the issue on one of my motorcycle boards. I'm Yamahammer there.

Personally, I think Jeep/SUV's, ATV, and dirtbikes have to stop fighting eachother, band together, and start fighting as a unified front. I argue this point with the dirtbike guys when they snipe on ATV's and trucks as well. But I don't like seeing comments in that email string about how trucks are "quieter" and "less distrubance" than ATVs and dirtbikes.
That kind of bashing eachother just helps the tree huggers win. FYI, many dirtbikes are quieter than many Jeeps I've seen. And in most cases, they certainly do far less damage than trucks. A bike can ride a trail through the trees narrower than any other vehicle, they're lighter, etc. etc..
Don't get me wrong. I love off-roading in my truck. I also love dirtbike. And occaisionally I enjoy my parent's ATV's. They all have plusses and minuses. And they all have yahoos that give bad names for eachother. I think I've seen more damage caused by one guy in one truck in one day, than I've ever seen from all the dirtbikes I've seen, combined. But then, there's a bunch or retarded kids on dirtbikes nearby me in Brighton constantly ripping up and down this big field with really loud pipes I can hear 1 km away.
Anyway, since you're on that board... I really wish the OF4WD would get together with the OFTR, and the ATV guys, and start working TOGETHER.

You know, and it's amazing the animosity goes so deep... I've offered a number of times to "sweep" an OFTR trail run with my truck on a number of occaisions, but there's never any interest. A couple years ago, there was an event where they were trying to bring gas cans back into the bush with dirtbikes late into the night to get people out.
Last year at the Mazinaw Trail Ride, Bushwacker (think you know him) actually "rescued" a girl who was injurred, got her and her bike out. He just happened to be passing by.
We're all out in the same areas, doing the same things, and fighting against the same people. And we all have a few bad apples making us look bad.

I agree with all said here (in a way)
However, if you run a JK or any Jeep (not running straight pipes) at 1km on a tight trail like most of us do.... please don't suggest that we are louder than a bike....
As my Kids say "like Duh????"
Also,
I used to run enduros so I know the bike end. Nobody is pointing fingers here and I must apologize if my post comes across as that?
I wanted to give you all the truth from our side (the JK/Jeeping world... not bike or ATV).. and the point of it was to keep trails open to "off roading". We are getting shut down left right and center every day so we need help here.
If you own a JK/Jeep and are on this forum...? please support this issue...?
We must as clubs (Bikes Atv's Sled's) really come together and work to keep these trails open otherwise the "tree huggers" etc. will shut us out.
We all have the same goals and the animosity really should have died a long time ago when "Wham" made it big....
Please Guys and Gal's just fill in the survey. We are running on borrowed time.
Not enough time to debate who's exhaust is louder or not..
Thanks So Much
Zeb
