Default Mulling this over

Thinking about making this trip. Couple of questions though.

1. Wife is just starting to be interested in offroading. She may not be too keen on going like 8 days straight. Is there other "stuff" in the area for her to do? Like shopping? That kind of stuff?

2. What other attractions are near by? We are basically travelling across most of the states I imagine, she would probably want to hit a few things on the way there. Granted I havent even looked at the route yet, but I imagine I would hook up with Chris (Piginajeep) at least for the way there.

Thanks guys.
Todd

Michigan - Jeep museum & factory.
Indiana - stare at the lake, big thrill.
Illinois - Chicago - get mugged.
Iowa - Corn
Nebraska - More Corn
Wyoming - Rodeos, Yet more Corn, then some hills. Nice hunting.
Utah - Get it dirty.

Denver is cool, especially if you like to hike/fish and like the mountains.

*L* seriously, Colorado & Wyoming are gorgeous, check to see if there is a rodeo in cheyenne or laramie, even if you hate cowboy stuff they can be a lot of fun to watch. Denver is right on the way and the Golden River, (Coors brewery) & Estes Park are beautiful, lots of malls too & history stuff like gold mines and such.

the drive really is pretty, the plains are beautiful in there own rolling bleak way. The Grand Canyon is something you MUST see in person to appreciate, pictures do it NO justice whatsoever, and the Painted desert is worth driving through as well. THe badlands in the Dakotas are worth a sidetrip to me as well.

really, i could spend a year driving out there and back, i LOVE the midwest and the easternrockies. If i could move anywhere, it would be into that area somewhere. Exactly where is a hard thing to pick. I loved it all.

Do you ski? Great deals that time of year, and incredible weather. How about the hot springs in Glenwood Springs. Or a late season snowmobile tour. Trust me, we'll still have lots of snow in Colorado. I don't suppose she's into fly fishing?

We stayed for 3 hours at the Grand Canyon and down the road ( uh ) up the we went. NOW Canyon Lands and Arches N. P. is something to see, I could spend days there.

Being from Wyoming I can tell you if you were interested in a rodeo at that time of the year, you wont find many. It still might be snowing... not good for an outdoor rodeo. If you want to take enough time to go shopping on the way, there is tons of outlet malls and shoping centers all along I-25 North of Denver to the Wyoming border if you go that way. Lots of fishing, sight seeing along the way. Make it scenic and stay off of the interstates in this part of the country. They put the interstates in the flatest parts to save money. Old highways are a whole different deal. Just don't hit any deer, elk, antilope, etc. Plenty out and about.
