Lightbulb Need Help/Advice

I have just bought my first Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 08 4dr on 8th Jan 09. I have also paid for extended warranty 100000km 5 years. Now browsing through the threads on this forum. I come across a lot of Modifications and accesorries that you guys have installed in your respective JKs .
I am interested in Lifts and winches also some extra lights . My concerns are as under:

1) Will any of these modifications affect my Factory warranty i.e turn it null and void.
2) Which lifts are appropriate for my jeep. Where to buy them get installed ?
3) I want chrome wheels (18 inches ) which ones are suitable for my JK and where to buy them.
4) I am very disappointed with the Healdlight bulbs. Can I change them to Xenon or HID if yes then which ones and where to buy them ?
5) can I buy extra set of lights in chrome ?

I am in Brampton/Airport Area in GTA. I appreciate your suggestions in advance

Thanks

in canada the dealerships lay the rule
1...yes mods could null your warranty.....talk to the dealer tell them what you want if they install then it is likely it will not effect your long term warranty
2...again talk to your dealership tell them what you want you maybe SOL or they will work with you. terraflex has worked with chrylser engineering department to make their lifts, but they sell rubicon express lifts rebadged as mopar performance part therefor that equals big coin
3... again talk to your dealer re wheels
4...philips extreme bulbs you can give them a try not available in canada yet
5....yes you can buy a set of lights in chrome talk to dyolfknip he has a set i believe

cheers
by the time 5 years roles around you will be either glad you had warranty or in a hurry for it to end so you can wig out your JK
but if you want warranty and not void i suggest you work on your relationship skills (lips to ass) with the dealer to see what you can do. most likely like i said they will be willing to sell to you and install and cover it.

good luck enjoy 5 yrs a long time away unless you drive a lot

Hey Black Tie.. I agree, it's sad but it really depends on the Dealership (aka Stealership) that you go too .. Like anything else some are better then others.

It also comes down to what you want to accomplish with your JK, the statement you want to make.. From mild to wild there are so many ways you can go. But you've come to the right place to find things out.

Basically it will also come down to if you are wheeling it or not. It is a Rubicon, but I see you have the black tie edition, so do you plan on going offroad, or will it be a mall crawler? Here in Kingston I have brought mine in, and the underside tells them a lot about how I drive mine. Regardless they have been very good to me and even told me that my mods wont void my warranty. Now if you build yours up just for the "look" I dont imagine they are going to give you a problem, not to mention you dont really need to worry about the warranty because not too much stuff breaks going over speed bumps....

I have my own opinions on people who build up for the look, but I tend to keep them to myself as it is that persons vehicle and they can do what they want....

Just get in good with a Mod friendly dealer. Bring the service manager coffee, things like that, and if you are that worried about it, ask them what is acceptable before you do a Mod.

As for a lift Most dealers are fine with somewhere around 2".
I currently have the same extended warranty on mine. And have not had any issues with mine. I here that Team Crysler is decent for modded jeeps.

Really do your research cause it all depends on what your going to do.
Just a note, I think that Chrome package you paid extra for will not be trail friendly, due to scratches, but like i say all depends what you want to do on the trails or no trails, and how YOU want it to look. If you have any More questions we all love to talk about jeeps and will give any advice we can Cheers Steve

It is Rubicon Express that makes the Mopar LA....And it is VERY expensive....there are a million lifts out there, it really depends on your budget and what you want to see out of it. As for install, the best thing you could do is find someone willing to give you a hand....there are a few guys out your way that I think would be in for a case of beer and some food for a lift party

Sold those lights today....sorry....

I agree with Todd (aka dyolfknip).

I'm gonna hazard a guess that you won't be going offroad due to the extended warranty, and the "dress up" type accessories.

If that is the case, a simple Budget lift is best for you since you don't need a top end suspension. You can generally find them for about $200.
As far as warranty work....each dealership varies. Some get lucky with a "offroad friendly" dealership, and then there are some (which I seem to have in my area) that see a little mud underneath the vehicle and threaten to void your entire warranty.

I like Cliff's answers

But yes do get chummy
with the dealer he would be a good ally when it comes down to warranty work

And always get the same guy to work on her at the dealer and watch him and when you see he knows what he his doing pay him a beer I E give him a 5 buck tip afterwards he'll start doing stuff for you too and it won't go on the bill

Basicaly everything everybody has said is true. I have had a couple warranty issues with my truck and have had everything covered so far. Just find a good dealer, stay away from the dealer on Dixie and Steeles!!(Brennons?) They voided my TJ's warranty because I had "tractor tires" on it. If you need a shop check out CT motorsports on Bramalea at Derry Rd, not much in his showroom but does great work and is very fair on pricing!!
