Default Scotch Line june 22nd Damage report!

Well it looks like Bruce was correct. My front diff grenaded!! so far it looks like a covered claim. The dealer so far has been quite accomadating I will keep everyone posted on this,

Thanks for the help every one. and the next run I wont be doing it all in 2WD.

Also I must say the fenders on the JK are pretty strong!! the only damage was the marker light, I wonder how that happened, Im glad the camera was not there for that

Ouch! That sucks man.

On the plus side, if the dealis going to warranty it, thats awesome news. I can't get my dealer to cover anything on warranty.

Will it be done in time for the JK Jam in 2 weeks?

The fenders are pretty good, one of mine is loose from a hit on the trail, but no damage to report!

Could be a number of reasons.

Faulty parts, incorrect gear setting, bigger tires, excessive wheel spin, etc.

It's hard to point the finger at anyone reason in a situation like this. If normal driving pattern was followed, and this includes trails riding (these things are trail rated), then I would have to go towards incorrect set up at the factory with a little bit of influence from the modifications.

The modifications are by no means extreme and are well below what some guys use as a max setup.

Although it could be argued that the mods were influenential, my argument would be that they do decrease the service interval on servicable parts, as well as increase the wear and tear on other parts of the vehicle, but if it happens during a warranty period, it is very often as a result of incorrect or slightly below spec setup.

I guess, hence the reason, manufactures offer a warranty. They know things don't always fit 100%, and this is basically allowing the consumer to sleep well at night, knowing that the manufacturer has to stand behind it's work for a certain length of time.

makes sense. I guess even the best of setups can have problems. Coming from the Liberty side of the pond, I'm no stranger to these problems with that weak D30a (I had to fight hard, but got it covered by the dealer). I guess I was just a little surprised to see a D44 have the same problem. But, what you said makes sense. Doesn't matter what it is, if it isnt setup right or has an unlucky flaw, it could break.

jtlr, glad to hear that it's being covered. Here's hopin you aren't stuck too long with it in the shop. So how did it break on ya? Housing split at the pinion (like mine), or just gear carnage?
