I think I've mentioned here before somewhat why this happens, why they void warranties.

Well, first it should be said that if you mod your truck, anything that fails that is caused by the mod is not covered. In this case, CV joints failing because of big tires is actually a perfectly valid statement. Sorry dude, but it's true. But then when they go on to say that unaffected things are voided (rear brakes), well that's bull, and here's why:

When a repair is done under warranty, the dealership makes less money. They mark up the price of the parts, they charge more per hour, and they charge more hours for customer paid work. For warranty work, they don't make any money on the parts, and they're paid less per hour, and less hours. They hate warranty work, and will always try to convince the customer to pay.

Now here's the really interesting part I didn't know until recently:

Service Advisors are paid on commission.

Let that sink in for a moment.

So seeing how no one seems to have any aftermarket U-Joints in stock (only the OME ones for the D44) and it's looking like I'm gonna have to order out of the states, Chantal swings by Village Chrysler in Ajax and play the I'm cute but not overly technical savy card....

You want to talk about being treated completly different... She pulls the Jeep right up to the doory so you can clearly see what's been done... She tells them that the front passenger u-joint is toasted, 2 of the Service guys and one of the mechanic's go out to take a look.... About 10min later they come in and tell her tell her, the Jeep is fully covered... They can clearly see that the jeep hasn't been abused.. It's been used for what Jeep designed it for...

The mechanic and with the Service Manager beside him then proceeds to tell Chantal, the shop that we have been taking the jeep to, that's done all the installs and modifications has done some real high quality work... Chantal didn't have the heart to tell them that everything's been done by her desk jocky hubby... Yup that would be me http://photobucket.com/Another_day_at_Bruces_garage

Needless to say the Jeep goes in to Village to get fixed...

I was at Village last week and had to leave my vehicle there for a day.
When I was picking her up the next day, one of the sales guys comes out and shakes my hand to say thank-you. He then tells me that he was trying to make a sale and the guy was close to biting but wasn't completely sold and walked out. Then he came right back in after seeing mine in the lot, and said he wanted to build his up to look 'that big' and signed the deal.
LOL.....I wonder if the sales guy told him it probably would void his warranty.
I asked for some commission from the deal, he chuckled and went inside

I am going to add to this thread as I have been very successful with McIver Jeep in Newmarket. I either deal with Sandy or Jennifer in service and Debbie in parts and have always been treated with the utmost care and concern.

I have never had any issues with warranty work, and parts are fantastic. Let them know that Chris with the 2010 Unlimited / Neons sent you!

Glad it all worked out. When I bought my Jeep they asked about extended warranty and I laughed and said it was a big waste of money. When my daughter got her new Ford pick up same thing and laughed right back at them. Very seldom do new autos need warranty work past the 3 or 5 years that they have. Now seeing how they nickel and dime us on the warranties making us fight for everything I am glad I just said no. The dealer in Welland dinked around for a year on my rusty hinges I just gave up. You pay to much for these jeeps anyways so why pay more for a warranty that you have to fight to get work done. I say fuuuuuuk the dealers and save your money and do the work yourself or your local garage you have trusted for years to do your work. Not sure on this but I thought my guy said he could do some warranty work on my Jeep. Now that would be nice cause he would not have any problem doing the work. May have to look into that one.
