Default Stealership Warranty work on Lifted JK - Niagara Region

So I took my Jeep into the dealership this morning for a front U joint issue that I have had since I bought the jeep. With that being said I didn't know what the issue was, just that I would get a squeak from the right front wheel when i turned left. I have a 2.5" BB on it that i installed at 40,000 Km. I now have 42,800 km on it.

I dropped it off and they gave me a ride to work. this took maybe 15 minutes. I wasn't at work for 5 minutes and they called me to tell me that Dodge will not warranty work done on 'modified' jeeps at all. She said if it was an alternator issue or something else she would be ok with it but because the jeep was lifted Dodge will not honor the warranty.

The dealership was Rose City Dodge Chrysler in Welland Ontario. They are knobs. I have had a couple issues with them in the past for doing work without authorization and I should have known better. I will not give them any further business for anything at all.

I hear ya. Got mine from them but never really had a warranty issue. But they gave me the run around with the rusty hinges to the point of saying fucccck it and i will deal with it my self. To bad rock spyder is way up in Toronto. Might be to far for a small job but just get a few more goodies done in one trip to make it worth your wild.

Yeah I will be doing the hinges myself. I am going to bedline the doors and hood hinges.

If you ever need a small sandblaster unit I have one. Just need the compressor and sand. I am going to do it in the spring.

Viking - Yes that where Brock is and I will stop in the future.

Matador - I have a call in to the Service Manager of Performance Chrysler in St. Catharines. After my fiasco at Rose City I called them and spoke to him directly wanting to see if they said the same thing. 'Dave' said he would look into it and then call me back. He did call back later in the day and said to bring it in so they could take a look at the lift and assess whether the U joint failure would have anything to do with the lift. I asked how that would be possible with a 2.5" lift when the jeep is made to flex completely. He was at least reasonable about it.

I called Chrysler customer service at 1-800-465-2001 (in Canada) and requested their policy on warrantying jeeps with 'modifications' went through the hole shpiel and they took the information. They also said that I would (unfortunately) have to go through the service manager at Rose City first. Of course he wasn't there yesterday so I am awaiting his call.

If I don't get anywhere I'll call Grimsby.

Ya if you read some of the threads here, The warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. I laughed when he tried to get me to get the extended warranty. Some times a local mech is best. I have dealt with Dave's garage across from the fire hall. Went to school with him. He is up and up.

What I can't understand is that Mopar actually sells lift kits for 2007 and up Jk's. This would indicate that 'Chrysler' offers ways for people to lift their jeeps, but will void their warranty if they do? Hmm seems like a good case for a good lawyer.

They are knowingly selling something to the public that will nullify their warranty agreements even if they have Chrysler install them.

Mopar is owned by Chrysler and therefore they are selling something that will allow dealerships to unilaterally deny work that is 100% warranty work. The service advisor told me that if the lift were not on it she could have done the work but because of a directive handed down by the Regional manager she could not do anything about it.

If Rose City Dodge sells any jeeps after mine was denied warranty service without making the purchaser aware of the consequences of 'modifying' the jeep and then sells them an extended warranty on top of that they are acting fraudulently and in very bad faith.

I had a similiar issue at the Niagara Chyrsler, Jeep, Dodge stealership in the Falls. I went in just before my warrenty expired with a few minor issues and got the same run around. The long story short is ... you have altered the jeep with a 2.5" coil/shock lift and so we can do the work, but it won't be covered under you warrenty. Total B.S, thankfully I have a couple of good mechanics that I can rely on.
