I know it's last minute but if you are free this Sunday I believe the rangers at Assateague could use some help cleaning up after Sandy's little visit. For those that have never been or even heard of Assateague it is one one of the only legal places to off-road on public land in Maryland.

They require you bring a bunch of gear when driving on the beach. They also ask that we pay for a fairly expensive permit (good for 1 year) but I assure you it is well worth it!

I plan on getting there around 10, have lunch on the beach and head back at sunset.

I was wondering how Assateague faired. I've been on there a few times over the last 2 summers. Wish I could help. Good luck and give a trip report.
