Default bumper length in New Jersey

does anyone know the regs on front bumper length in NJ? Would a stubby bumper be ok? I can't seem to find anything on it at the MVC web site.

According to the NJ Vehicle Code, the bumpers must cover the "full width of the vehicle". I asked 2 local police officers, and stopped at an inspection station to see what that meant, and no one could tell me. The guy at the inspection station did tell me that he wouldn't fail me for my stubby bumper.

Bottom line - proceed with caution. If someone wants to be a stickler, they can ticket and/or fail you at an inspection.
