So Tru the sand at IBSP is so loose and there are always pretty good sized ruts at the entrance.

Like I said before I did drive on st 28 psi but when I aired down to 15 psi there was so much more traction.

Is there a fee or a permit needed to drive on the beach at IBSP or Brigantine? Also, is there a place to air up or do you need to have your own compressor?

IBSP is $195 for nj residents for the year and I think $225 for non residents. Or they do a three day permit for $50. They have two spots to air up there. I'm not familiar with brig.

IBSP information can be found here.
http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandf...ks/island.html

It is not cheap
3 day
New Jersey Resident $75.00
Non-Resident $90.00

Annual
New Jersey Resident $195.00
Non-Resident $225.00

The permits are actually for fishing and you are required to have certain gear with you. As far as air there is air available when you get off the beach. Depending on the time you will have to wait. I just use an air tank.

Not too sure about IBSP, but Brig is no way packed down. I spend a good part of my weekend pulling out SUVs that get stuck. In the last month that's included 2 tundras, a F-150, and a FJ Cruiser.

They recently plowed the access rd so maybe that's what others are saying, but along the dunes and above the tide line it's as soft as anywhere.
