We had just made our First stop on the Historic ride at the Bridge. As we pulled out I heard a clunk. At first I thought it was a broken shock bolt (I have broken two so far) anyway as we got down the trail it got a little weird.

My stearing got very loose and had alot of wobble in the front-end. So as we hit a flat sandy part of the trail I ask the trail guide to stop so I could make a check of the front suspension.

Both my sway bar disco's were off (I had'nt taken them off at the runs beginning) and I noticed that one of the welds were broke on the track bar bracket.

We only had a short way to go untill we hit a good parking area so I tryed to baby it to their.

After closer inspection I found that all the welds were broken except one on the track bar bracket. So we used some strapes to tie everything up and headed off to find a welder. At 10mph, and some wide ass turns.

We found a shop that was open on rt30 and they let us use their welder. Jim from OK4wd did the weding and it was good enough to get me home. A two hour ride from the pines.

So today was the permanent fix. Added a front JKS track bar bracket and BDS adjustable track bar. Also added a rear JKS track bar bracket. (this was'nt going to happen again) Then a front end alignment and a new set of BDS sway bar disco's (broke the shit out of the old ones)

Moral of the telling (story) Always, Always wheel with friends and never alone. Thanks Guys.
Wow Tim thats crazy what happen but what a great middle and ending to the story. I'll be getting those track bar braces welded soon too. These track bar brackets suck to many have broken, for 250 or so a lot of people should get be getting the braces. Also people should carry ratchet straps, they come in handy when something like that breaks. We used some to get a guy with a xj that broke his control arm off the frame and pushed his axle back, pulled the axle forward and ratchet straps forward and to the rear to hold it in place and towed him out.

Tim any idea if that shop is usually open on sat/sun? If so maybe can post name or address incase someone has emergency like that

I was talking to Jim today and he was telling me about your JK. Glad everything turned out ok.

I had the same issue with my D44's, unfortunately for me I had both front and rear break off. Can't recommend strongly enough that anyone who is wheeling there jeep get these things braced up. JKS makes great brackets.

The shop is only open for pumping gas on Sat and Sun. Jim talked the guy into letting us use his welder. In fact, he called his boss to see if it was alright.

Tim (Pagoda). I'm sorry you didn't have a good time on the ride. I was the one who set that line up threw wharton and was a guide as well. I appreciate your input and will learn off of it as well. I'd hate to see you drop out of the club due to one bad experience esp with me at fault. The club really is heading in the right way, but as with anything in life there will always be room for improvement. I was actually curious to why you were sitting there most of the day with your windows up and not socializing, now I guess I know why. If you ever want to know where some of the spots were that we went to (if you didnt have a GPS tracking it) just let me know. I've been running Wharton for going on 28 years and know the western side like the back of my hand. As I said before I'm sorry and let this be a learning experience for myself.

When I saw $250 for parts and labor I was all over it only to find out it's alot more $$$.

According to Jim at OK, they want 4 hours labor + $180 in parts. That comes out to be $500.

At any prices it's still piece of mind to fix this flaw. however I didnt want others to think it was that cheap of a mod.

Perhaps that why the above post from Tim was edited to eliminate the price?

4 hours to take off 2 track bars and weld two plates on? that seems way to long to me, I saw on quadratec they claim it takes 2-3hrs for the front and 1-2 for the rear, on a lift no way it should be taking that long IMO, I dont have the front one but I'll time them when I get my rear done lol
