I was finally able to pull the tracks out of my gps unit and we didn't cover as much ground as I thought we may have. We went it around Bridgewater, up Briery Creek and out that direction. Union Springs Rd is rough and dry despite how wet with creek crossings it used to be. So based on what we did and where we went, I'm still looking to go in the same way and maybe head north towards Dictum/ Long Ridge if it's still open or maybe check into Reddish Spur to the south. The internet says Dictum has a couple of neat obstacles but they may have been placed off limits.

The "camp" note seemed like a nice place to go. The turnaround was just that- a dead end turnaround.

Cool. Next time I get up there, I am going to try out the Motion-X app I have and see what it will do.

EDIT: Finally hooked up the winch last night. Only added it back in Nov. I think. Gonna do something different with the thermal breakers. I'm not diggin' the location of them.

Yup I'm definitely out this weekend. Just looked at the weather and Harrisonburg is saying high of 38* and a low of 18*... with snow after midnight and most of Sunday. While the snow sounds fun, 18* does not espicially since flagpole is even higher in elevation.

On a separate note I did get my underquilts completed and tested this passed weekend and was very warm down to 31* on Saturday night.

I just got my gussets and exhaust spacers in so will be installing them soon.

Really can't wait for this weather to make up its mind, it needs to either stay winter or start warming up for spring. I am itching for some camping/wheeling!

It's definitely going to be cold up there, I'm packing accordingly and will have plenty of dry layers to use. If it's too wild then we'll pull off the mountain early and find a hotel. I've got experience with the snow wheeling (Michigan) but I'm not looking to become a statistic.

Awesome news on the underquilt, I'll have to start getting that side of my gear together once I slow down the spending on the jeep.

Gussets are an easy install- did you get the LCA skids as well? They are good news for these rocks that snag axles. I've since added some to the rear and you don't hear near the scraping that there used to be.

Edit: found a group of Cherokee owners that are looking to head up there as well, hopefully they stay safe.

It was beyond cold at night. Fantastic views and chilly during the day but -beyond- cold at night.

Goin' Coastal is a local group that's got a few meetups your direction and a few trips coning up if you're interested.
