Default Offroad 101 course&newbie trail ride

usgaone (Tyler) has volunteered to do a 101/Newbie group Friday and Saturday. This is intended for the first time off roaders!

He'll go over basic offroading techniques.

-use of 4hi vs 4lo,
-use of lockers
-disconnects and benefits.
-airing down your tires

he'll run strictly newbie friendly trails, intended to show what your stock jeep (or midified) is capable of doing. Without much pushing.

Caution, your jeep will still scrape rocks, hit the diffs, and use your factory skid plates

Who's in?

what's the location?

Disregard. Way to far for me to travel in one weekend. Sounds good though

I will be coming to this, if i can get off work. As a n00b i would be in for the preschool class.

Question though what does one need to bring to a trail ride, other then the stock X jeep

The Park has their own requirements listed on their website.
Full size spare.
front and rear recovery points.

Additional notes:
Full tank of gas.
Drinks, snacks, lunch for driver, passengers and any pets (food is not available out on the trails).

As for equipment, that is something we'll go over in the class. As a Newbie class, I expect nothing. I'll show you what I keep in my jeep, and what I actually use.

My intent in the class is to share my wealth of useful and useless knowledge. We'll head out on the simplest of trails, to get your tires dirty and progress from there. Holpefully those who go for Day 1, will spend day 2 trying out what they have learned.

Look forward to it, and hope we have a good crowd of newbies show up!

If not, I guess I'll spend the day spotting a group through Otters!

This will be at Rausch Creek during the EastCoast JKFest in October. I've volunteered to do this Friday October 2nd and Saturday October 3rd.

Might also want to show the "correct" way of using a Hi-Lift.

Probably not. That would fall under a recovery class, and far from the newbies. I just want them to get out on the trail and enjoy themselves.
