Well, two full days of OT just became available on Saturday and Sunday, and I just can't pass it up. So I'm going to have to back out of this one. Good news is I should make enough $$$$ this weekend to more than pay for my new driveshaft. Depending on what time we get wrapped up Saturday, I still might try to make it up there to catch you guys for dinner. If you guys decide to follow that route I posted, avoid trail J-1. There is an extremely steep downhill only section at the end that you won't want to negotiate in the snow. Also, the stock guys might want to skip "O" trail also.

anybody know how clear the roads will be if you get 5" overnight? I'd hate for my 3 hour ride there to take 5 hours.

im told by the locals here that they stay ontop of clearing to roads. when i was here last here around this time, we got 4" and the roads were 100% clear of snow and salt was laid out and we live in the back roads. but i will be calling them on friday to make sure that they will be open and how the road conditions are after snow

I was going to go Jeep'n with a group in central VA Sat, but it's calling for freezing rain, ice pellets followed by rain later in the day. Doesn't sound like fun. I'm particularly concerned with the 2.5 hour drive on icy roads at 0500 in the morning.

With that said, I think I'll head up to Rausch Creek. What do I need to do to get in on the meeting. I have a 3 hour drive (coming up from northern VA, so I may head up tonight and get a hotel. This will be my first time taking my Jeep off road (busting it's cherry). Sounds like a blast

If who ever is in charge wants to give me a call, I'd appreciate it.

I'm also going to go see if I can find some snow chains. I can't wait to see what is possible in the snow with this little burger.

Will RC even be open if its snowing?
Do they allow snow chains?

You don't want to use tire chains while wheeling. You would rip them off on the rocks in the first 10 minutes. Your Rubi tires should be fine.

How do you plan on driving up? If you come up route 15 let me know and i can meet you and you can follow me up. Do not talk snow chains, you won't need them. They will open regardless of the snow. As long as it stays snow it won't be too bad, once it turns into ice/slush things get kinda messy
