Hi folks,

I'm from Germany. I'm a friend from Thorty (look post before) and member from Jeep Club Germany. We have much fun with our JK Rubicon CRD (Diesel)...

My JK work very good with an OME Suspension an 35" tires and black ProComp wheels. My front winch bumper and the rear bumper is from Mopar.

Please look the following pics:

With best regards from Germany

Default Dutch in the USA

Hello Europeans

I'm Dutch and, like some other Dutchies, living in the USA now (California). But in about two years I will be going back. I'm planning to take my new JK along with me. If it is part of a removal project, I may be able to avoid import taxes. Which are horrible, as many Europeans know.

I just bought my Jeep with auto and hard top for around 18.000 euros brand new including taxes. In The Netherlands, it would have cost me 51.000 euros.

Hello Dutch,

You are living in California?...Great! What's the reason, why you will go back to the Netherlands? I think the wheather is not the reason why!

Are you a member of a California Jeep Club? I ask you for that, because in the next year my wife and I want to go to the west of the USA and as a Jeeper of course we want to go to Moab. Probably we want to fly to Denver and we will rent a motorhome there. We projected a trip to the federal states Colorado, Utah, Nevada and California.

We would be delighted to, if we meet some Jeep-Clubs or JK-Members from this forum in the aforesaid states. Maybe we can meet some guys of the JK videos?

We want to go to Las Vegas as a matter of course. From Vegas we will plan the trip to Moab. At Moab maybe we will rent a JK?

My greatest wish would be to go to this journey with my own car, but I think the journey will be pricelessly. What do you think about the car (Jeep) rental service stations at Moab or near Moab? I think the prices are oversell, is it? Or is it better to rent a JK in Vegas? Is the price lower as directly at Moab?

Maybe I will buy some Jeep-parts (little things) in des USA. Are there (in Colorado, Utah, Nevada or California) branch offices of 4wd.com, Quadratec, or others?

Thank you for your answers

Best regards from Germany
Jens (Germanjeeper)

P.S.: When you be back in the netherlands you must visit an new Offroadpark near Osnabrück. It's very nice and a big area. Some Dutches are the owner of the park...look this link: h t t p://www.furstenforest.eu/ h t t p://www.furstenforest.eu/

Hallo Jens, wie geht's? My wife is the VP of a Dutch company with an office in San Francisco. When that is running well, we will (must) go back home. Maybe two more years in the sunshine!

I am not a member of an off road club here and don't know any of the guys on the forum. Perhaps you can PM them (send a personal message, I don't really know how that works since I'm new on the forum). Some will be happy to meet and help you, I'm sure. And show you their extreme Jeeps!

Vegas is something you must see, as a European. It doesn't get much crazier than that. Don't forget Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire State Park if you like nature. You can actually visit the Grand Canyon too, it's maybe 20 minutes by helicopter and they drop you off right at the rim. I did that once but someone else paid for it...

Sounds like a good plan to me. I understand the sentiment of doing the trip in your own JK, but shipping it is expensive, insurance can be a hassle, there is extra wear and km's on your car, not to mention no one will believe you if you want to fill it up with diesel . Before I lived here I did two Harley tours across the USA and just rented them, even though we had two Harleys in our garage!
I was looking at renting a Jeep for off roading too, like Farabee's in Death Valley, but just couldn't resist owning one. So I have no experience, but check out:
h t t p://www.farabeesjeeprentals.com h t t p://www.farabeesjeeprentals.com/
h t t p://cliffhangerjeeprental.com/ h t t p://cliffhangerjeeprental.com/
h t t p://www.highpointhummer.com/ h t t p://www.highpointhummer.com/
When you rent from these guys, you will get a mildly modified JK that can actually do many trails. Renting a Jeep somewhere else may be cheaper, but then it's unmodified and comes with the tiny wheels that I got . Also, you may rent a Jeep but when you arrive they give you a Ford Flex or something. "Yes Sir, this is a comparable vehicle and it also has 4x4. We have no Jeeps left".
One more story, I rented a Chevy Blazer maybe 10 years ago and just went to Utah on vacation. It was possible to ride some easier trails, on the slickrock etc. Just be careful and don't tell the rental company you're going off-road! These days most 4x4's (SUVs) are so road-oriented that any off-roading may not be a good idea though.

Perhaps the question is if off-road shops will have in stock what you want, or the companies themselves will sell direct to the public. If not, it may be an idea to order everything (and pay) online, and have it shipped to someone's US home address. Like mine. Of course you will have to come here to pick the stuff up, and if you're buying two axles, good luck getting them on the plane and through customs

Not bad!!!
What OME you got? any sagging after installation of the bumpers? Any touching of the driveshafts under heavy articulation?
Sorry to be so insistent ... I got almost all parts to fit my combo (OME medium duty + control arms + Cooper STTs in 35" ) and since we may end up with similar setups .... nice rig!!!!

Can anyone here tell me what (if any) restrictions exist within Belgium for Jeeps? I currently have a 2 door JK with a 3" lift and just under 35" tires. Are there any issues with lifts, tires, bumpers, etc? I'd like to get on top of any issues now before moving there to work at SHAPE.

Default Hi from Holland

Hi, i live in Holland, and by Dutch standards a JK veteran (mine is from late 2007) with 60.000 miles on it. I am an active member of the Dutch Jeep Club. Last month I went to the European Jeepers Jamboree. What a big fun that was! Rumor has it that there will be another one in 2013. Would be fun to have all JK section (which should have grown considerably by then).

Here is my JK:

Some of the mods:
• ARB Deluxe Winch Bumper

• ARB Safari Snorkel

• Warn XD9000i winch with Viking synthetic winch cable

• Old Man Emu 2.5” lift with HD coils front and MD coils rear

• JKS adjustable lower control arms (front)

• JKS adjustable track bar

• Teraflex sway bar quick disconnects (front)

• Nortridge4x4 adjustable sway bar links (rear)

• Cooper Discoverer ST/T, 17”x12.5” on Rugged Ridge rims

• IPF 920 Headlights & IPF 900 driving lights

• Rancho oil pan protection

• Home made skid plate (front)

• and still a lot to wish for ;-)

Hope to see you soon somewhere on the European trails!
