If you want to accept the fact that it could be off by somewhere between 75 to 100,000 posts (or more).

The post number doesn't mean anything as to when that mile marker post was achieved. That was the point i was trying to make previously as I am obviously aware of how to look at post #.

This forum has been growing and morphing and changing in so many ways there isn't any way to know.

Off the top of my head as a small part of why this hasnt been done:
  • The for sale forums have been changed around and restructured. So post #'s have changed.
  • Other sub forums have been added, moved, combined or deleted as necessary. So post #'s have changed.
  • Posts in giveaway threads are automatically deleted after the giveaways are concluded. So post #'s have changed.
  • Anything & Everything doesn't count at all, but did at one time, so does it count? doesn't it count?
  • Do deleted for sale threads count?
  • Do accounts that where opened simply to harass and otherwise degrade the forum count? they where removed from the forum, but is it to say that someone who posted after them and theoretically made the millionth posts, should have there post # changed because someone decided to be a jerk and get themselves removed from the forum more than a year before the millionth poster signed up? that is hardly fair to them & how would we know? simple, there is no way to know.
  • does this post count?
  • Do mine or the other moderators/area leaders count? did they count before we accepted our positions? if our posts don't count, or we chose to make them not count, or not let WOL's count or let them count that would drastically change the outcome in the same way I mentioned above.
So to answer your question, no, it isn't close enough. It isn't even in the same state as the ballpark.

We discussed this and concluded regretably that there was no fair or sure way to know exactly WHO made such a post. I wish there was a way to do it, we all did, it would be fun to know. But when you look at all of the factors, there simply is no way to figure it out. That is the reality of it, and to arbitrarily just pick someone and say it was them isnt fair to the other 20,000+ members. ~Sorry.
