By bumping the thread it brings it back to the top of the first page.

It means that someone is bumping the thread to the top. You'll see it the most in the "for sale" area, but occasionally you'll see a bump in the "eyefull a day" thread to remind people to post more pics.

Edit: Robar beat me to it.
