Why does everyone always screw with non-sponsor links? Wouldn't unchecking "Automatically parse links in text" do exactly the same thing but then allow another member to copy and paste easily into the address bar?
Also a related question. does linking from the forum use extra bandwidth? I'm just wondering why some forums don't want it and others don't care.

Can I post links or contact information to Manufacturers and/or Vendors who are not sponsors of this forum?
Contrary to what many seem to think, JK-Forum.com and it's sister sites Project-JK.com and MY.Project-JK.com didn't just magically appear on the internet and if it weren't for the help and support of our sponsors, they simply wouldn't exist. And, while we do encourage the open discussion of all products being manufactured or services being offered for the Jeep JK Wrangler, we do not allow contact information such as phone numbers, email addresses or direct links back to manufacturers or vendor unless they are a sponsor of Project-JK.com. Needless to say, any posts containing such information will be edited accordingly.

My question was:
Doesn't unchecking the "automatically parse links" box offered by the forum software prevent the URL to be hyperlinked to the actual site? AND if so why does everyone alter the URL to prevent it from linking instead of unchecking that box?
The second part of that question was:
Does it use extra bandwidth to link directly? Which I guess is partially answered in your quote. From what I got from the quote is that it doen't take any additional bandwidth, it is just a choice wayoflife made.
Please don't assume everyone has a lack of intelligence.
