Website Speed
I am just curious if this website is abnormally slow or it's just my location. I am using high speed bandwidth no matter where I log in (at home, I have a 10mb cable connection and at work, I have at least 4 to 5) but for whatever reason, this website seems very slow no matter what time of day I log in. I live in the San Diego area so I'm figuring that this is being hosted on the east coast for it to be slow out here. Just curious if I have some setting that is off. Unfortunately, it makes it tough to come here and read the posts which I do appreciate, but I often find I'm going to competing sites because they're faster.
Anyone else have this problem??
Thanks

Thanks for the quick responses. It's been happening from the day I signed up back in October of 2007. When I go from screen to screen, I have at least a 2 to 5 second delay and the screen scrolls down very slowly, like I'm working fon a remote VPN. This doesn't happen with any other site I use (unless its some real small company self hosting), just this one. I'm pretty computer competant and would say that it looks to be DNS related, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions??
I've got it narrowed down at least. It must be specific to my computer and also Internet Explorer. I just installed Firefox 3.0 (using it to write this) and the speed is now fine. I wonder what IE is doing to screw things up. I swear, Microsoft better fix stuff better.
Let me know if you figure anything on the IE side out.
Thanks

I was plagued with some bugs and it made me run slow.
Even in Firefox, (Though you are fine now) it could progressively get worse unless the little buggars are removed.
That was my issue.

I'm starting to like Firefox better. IE might be the standard, but it has always had issues.
I'm no Microsoft fan, but I've got to say that Internet Explorer 8 (currently available for download in beta form) is way better than v7... and for me, way better than Firefox 3.0.
I was running Firefox 3.0 for awhile, but my computer kept locking up after prolonged web browsing (especially after visiting Flash-heavy sites). I read an article where they compared Firefox's memory management (in particular, the way it handles Flash) against IE8, and the article suggested that some Firefox users would have system freeze-ups because Firefox was inefficient at memory management. I decided to test that theory as the reason behind my system issues, and downloaded IE8... and it's been a huge improvement. I can leave my computer going for days now without issue, so that seems to bear out the theory. Just something worth considering if you find Firefox lacking in the long-term.
Oh, and as far as spyware goes, you'd be doing yourself a favor by trying Spybot Search & Destroy - it's free, and it works pretty well.
