Is it necessary or is it a good or bad idea to disconnect while riding around in the mountains, going through passes such as Engineer, Cinnamon, Black Bear, etc.
I went through Engineer, Stoney, and Cinnamon last summer in my truck. Other than a few small ledges I don't see where it would be necessary. Actually I was worried it might not be good if i get off camber much.
Also, what kind of tire pressure do you run when riding around like that?

Can definitely tell MaloCS has been there done that. X2 on all he said. I did want to remark on your signature Bert. I was on the trail the other day and came across a crawler who had no spare, no air, a popped bead
and a bumper sticker saying, "Chrome won't get you home." I have a chrome Master Flow air compressor I picked up from Costco last summer. Had to give him a little "chrome" grief while I was filling his tire for him.

Well, yeah Seer, I guess I should have qualified the Chrome comment, haha. I guess some kinds of chrome can be helpful.
Does that compressor work pretty fast? Is it the kind that you can mount or is it portable? I carry a 10lb co2 tank. Also have a cheap 12v compressor for when I'm not in a hurry, it works ok if I don't have anything to do for an hour after I've aired down to 12lbs and I need to air all 4 back up. I'd like a good compressor that's quick so I can conserve my co2.

That dual cylinder works very fast. I put in an ARB hi volume and danged if it didn't shut down after three tires while that portable fills up my four tires faster than my buddy's ViAir can do three. I'm going back to that portable and maybe offering that ARB cheap to someone. It's a little big to mount in the engine compartment, but I saw on here where someone mounted a similar one behind the rear seat. I kind of like it being portable. The thing about it (and all compressors) is it gets pretty hot after a while so I'm still working on coming up with a slick way to haul it around until it cools enough to store it away. I've been over Imogene several times, but don't know where "The Waterfall" is. I haven't noticed any spots on the trail where I thought I needed disconnects. Is it on the main trail, or on one of the side trails? I know there's a waterfall on the shelf road above Telluride (just a little before the tunnel). Is that "The Waterfall".
