Or scratch the saw and use a good sharp razor blade. Go over your line a few times into the fender and it snaps right off, nice and clean. The set of fenders i just cut came out so clean they don't need trim on the edges.

Did mine today with a sawzall. Took maybe 2 hours but I haven't done anything yet with the inside of the wells. Save that for another day, but I'm very happy with it

I am glad I came across this...as I was looking into buying flat fenders today. If I can cut them and achieve the same thing while keeping $600 in my pocket I couldn't be happier. Does this mod give the same clearance as the purchased flat fenders?

From what I've read so far yes about the same clearance but obviously not the same protection depending on the brand of flat fenders you go with.
