Four Corners North Group Run
Because the Four Corners area is so large, Scouter4life and I decided to split our group run into two runs. The goal is to get a run that is in a location that's close enough to both Denver and Salt Lake that the largest number of people possible can make it. There will be a south run as well, and anyone who would like to go on that, is more than welcome.
For the north run, we have several ideas so far and we would love to have more. I've put the two ideas that we have up on the poll, and will add more ideas as they come it.
Moab: It's about 6 hours from Denver and 4 hours from Salt Lake. The best time to go there is in the spring or fall. Summers are brutaly hot. The trails in Moab vary from extremely easy.... ie: a stock Toyota Rav4 could do those, to extremely difficult... ie: extremely modded rigs and buggies only; and there is everything in between. Plenty of lodging in town and camping around town.

Ouray: I believe Ouray is about six hours from both Denver and Salt Lake. Late summer would be the best time to hit this area, as it's been a big snow year and Ouray is very high altitude. If we wait too long to go here, we may end up with next winters snow falling on us. I need to do more research on the trails in the area, but many of them are mountain passes that get above treeline revealing outstanding views of the rockies. Several options for lodging in town and limitless camping. There are also hot springs in town.

For what it's worth... I'm not at all opposed to two group runs if there is enough interest in both locations. Also, if you vote for one location and then change your mind, please let me know as I can change votes. This is a multiple choice poll, so please vote for your preference for locations as well as season.

I voted for Ouray! I am planning on going there anyway this year and might as well be with a group! We go to Moab 3 or 4 times a year and never been to Ouray. I keep hearing it's a must, so off we go! Let's go in the fall!
I vote for Ouray!!! if we only get one trip, if there is enough interest to do both though like you are suggesting I would love to do Moab as well. Just be advised there is a Jeep Jamboree happening in Ouray in September I believe. I looked at doing it and then was like why pay for it when I can just go with a group of buddies for free since I live here. I believe they are sticking to Imogene pass and some other easier runs. I hear they are all very good runs, and you can't beat the fact you are near some hot springs, lol.

Going to get to the info this week. I've been out of town visiting my soon to be new home. Good to be back, but the stress is just starting.

Edit: Added some links to the original post.

Even though I didn't see it listed just throwing the idea out there, Black Bear pass. I have been wanting to do this one for a while but have not had a vehicle that I could trust to do it in. Its only rated Extreme because of the switchbacks on the face of a cliff. I hear its a great trail to do, but doesn't open until late summer/fall time I believe. As far as the others I am up for a mutli-day run with camping or whatever. I know we still have a bit to wait for the snow to melt up there but I am getting excited just thinking about it. If any of you Colorado Springs/Denver JKers are out there and are wanting to get some other trail runs in before this let me know. I am anxious to get out there but don't have any buddies with 4x4
so I am refraining from getting out there and getting stuck
