Question Hello 4 Corners! Camping between L.A. and Denver?

Hey folks-- looks like I'm making my way out to the Denver area this August and I want to grab a campsite for a night in the middle. I was looking at Fremont Indian SP near Richfield, UT. It's only a mile of I-70, which is good. Anyone heard of it? Just need a good spot to pitch a couple tents, cook a meal and burn some firewood for the night.

Thanks!

Can't help ya up there. If you were taking the southern route, I could help.

Sounds like a great road trip.

No worries-- thanks for the reply. I guess nobody out there has heard of this Fremont Indian State Park? I talked to the ranger and it definitely seems like a good bet since it's exactly half way between L.A. and Denver and only a mile or so off the highway down a dirt road. Hopefully, the fact that nobody knows about it means it's nice and quiet and not that it's abandoned and scary.

We'll be out there for a concert, actually. Phish at Red Rocks.

Thanks for the info! I think I'm gonna give it a shot. It's only a night anyways. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I have not been to that Campground but Richfield is a nice little town. Very ATV friendly. There is a KOA there too with cabins I think. It's gonna warm in August.

I hear ya about the heat... I guess tenting it will give me incentive to get up early and get on the road. From what I've read, the campground is on a dirt road that leads to some ATV trails-- but I don't know how much traffic it sees.
