Looking to move to CO
Off topic for this forum, but figured why not ask. I am attempting to coordinate a move to CO from PA. I've lived on the east coast my whole life and I need a change of scenery. As a youngster I lived in WV, IL, OH, NJ, Buffalo and Rochester, NY. For the past decade plus I've lived in the greater Philadelphia area. No offense to anyone, but I've grown tired of the East and want to raise my familiy in a different environment.
I've been to CO a number of times for business related activities and vacations and loved every second of my time there. The outdoor activities, quality of life and economic environment look to be drastic improvements over PA. I have a conection to the state of CO as well. My grandfather was born and raised in Pueblo and left after the flood in the early 1900s destroyed their dairy farm. His dad had passed away when he was young so they needed to move to survive and settled in Buffalo, NY.
Any suggestions as I begin my attempt to secure employment? I have ~12 yrs experience in financial services, technology and consulting. I graduated from undergrad in '97 and completed an MBA in Finance in '07, both at Villanova University. Some of the larger employers look to be Lockheed, HP and Verizon. I am thinking the best opportunities are in Denver, but I'd prefer Ft. Collins or Colorado Springs. A small commute is not a problem since I've done as much as 2hrs one way in the past...not that I ever want to do that again. Any other employers or areas to keep in mind? Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Take me with you !!!!!!!!!!! hahaha. A change of scenery you WILL get !!! Your points about recreational opportunities and quality of life etc are dead on. I know, I was born and raised in PA and lived in CO for 7 years with my wife after college. We have great memories there. Moved back to PA in 2000 (live right down rt. 100 from you) and have been here ever since. Family was our main motivation in moving back to PA as we are both from this area. As far as being sick of the East Coast...I hear ya, especially since I know what it's like out west. I don't think you'll be disappointed out there. We both miss it terrribly....case in point...why am I reading the "Four Corners" forum
With the Jeep in particular I really miss the off-road opportunities CO offered. Tons of public lands to run through. I used to have a book of all the trails in the various regions of Colorado. I wish there were enough trails in PA to have to publish a book
As far as a job - I would just suggest finding some local recruiters to get started. Good Luck.
Here's one of my favorite shots from one of my last off road trips in CO...

Colorado is definitely great! I've lived here all my life except for 2 years I spent in Fort Worth, TX.
As far as job hunting...Raytheon is also in Aurora. I know the job market is bad pretty much everywhere, but I would think you'd be able to find something here with your credentials. I would also say you'd probably have better luck (more options anyways) in Denver than Fort Collins. I lived there while going to CSU and it is a great little city, but there will most likely be more opportunities in the Denver area.
Good luck no matter what you choose to do.

Planning to make a similar move as well, after I graduate. My best friend lives in Arvada and it's a pretty good location. Definitely planning a trip out there this summer, have been out there 6-7 times and can never get enough of it.

i thinks it because were have so much area to play in in PA but cant do it because of the laws there so we run for the free country! its funny telling people there is nowhere to wheel except at a park or private land. Everyone here is used to BLM.

No kidding... Back east if you don't get busted for trespassing the lift law nazis will surely punch your ticket on the streets. I don't miss that.
