I hope so, this is the earliest I have ever gone. We typically go late August-September.

Member MikeOK was posting a lot a few months ago about heading to Ouray this summer, but can't recall his timing.

I'm jealous, haven't been since moving from Colorado. Should be perfect, we always dropped in around the fourth for a weekend.

September has always worked great and the weather has always cooperated, plus the Aspens are starting to change then which adds to the view.

Just an update....

The weekend after the 4th was packed in Ouray, I always ran into at least a few people on the trails. There were tons of UTV's and rent-a-Jeeps running around and on the trails. It was "unusually hot" and very dry in town according to some of the locals, 85 degrees and a couple of 15 minute showers. Apparently they opened up Imogene a few days before we got there so there were still several places where you drove through snow 10+ feet deep on each side of the trail. There was plenty of snow up in the mountains and some of the streams were running pretty good. Not a bad trip this year but now I know why I like August and late September so much. We went on Imogene, Engineer, Ophir and Animas Forks. We actually started up Engineer from 550 and ran into a guy in a stock F-150 coming down with the help of two other Jeeps and some spotters, I have no idea how he had not ripped off his running boards and spoiler by that point?
