Default trails to ride near breckenridge, co

Not sure if this is where I should post, but possibly heading out west in Jan. I am coming from Chicago and ending up in Breckenridge. I have a stock 4X4 4 door X. Any trails that an X can handle along the way? I probably wouldnt take many detours on the way there. But it would be nice to know where some trails are in case I get the urge.

I am really looking for some trails near Breck? And of course my X needs to handle these...

Any info would be great. Thanks!

There's a trail (more of a road really) on the outskirts of Colorado Springs that's short but still a nice drive if you don't mind going a bit out of your way. Take highway 24 west from I-25 and turn left onto 26th Street. Keep following 26th and it turns from a paved road into a dirt road that heads up into the mountains. You'll pass through some old tunnels and eventually end up at a parking lot at a trailhead. Left takes you past Helen Hunt Falls and back toward CO Springs. If you switchback to the right, you end up on High Drive which eventually ends back where you began on 26th street. There are some great hiking trails off of High Drive.

Like I stated, it's nowhere near hardcore offroading, but it's a great scenic drive in the mountains that your stock rig could handle even in January.

Enjoy the trip!

Too much snow this time of year...unless you like winter trail riding.
