What's a good guide book/map for exploring CO?
I'm going to explore Colorado the next couple years during my time off with my little 2 dr Rubicon and am looking for a good guide book and or maps. Any recommendations?

Nice big list of trails. There are a lot of books, none of which I own personally. Every author has a different taste and is a little old, so I haven't looked too in depth with literature. If you have some time, buy a few and read them on the throne. Bump for more feedback
funtreks.com has a couple of good trail guides. The third editions were printed in 2010, but they are still pretty good. they also have free downloads for updated gps coords, if you use one. They also have guides for other states, even one for Moab
Trail damage is a very good resource too, but their gps coordinates can be a little off.

Subscribed. I plan on taking a trek from NH to Colorado a year from now ( and hopefully every summer there after).
I am looking for good routes to do with a stocker '12 JKU. Nothing too crazy- We will just want some good mountain roads to explore to get to some cool mines, high elevation ponds( to fish in perhaps), good views, and perhaps hit a few hiking trails to grab a few peaks in the process.
I grew up spending 4-6 weeks in Colorado during the summers and want the same for my kids. Silverton, Marble, Ouray, and RMNP were our favorites. The funniest memory I have is my dad taking a 27' travel trailer over cottonwood pass in CO. This was back in the 70's and I don't believe any of it was paved.

Don't know if they make them for the states, but we use Backroads Map books up in Canada. They are surprisingly accurate, and include info on thousands of lakes, trails and other points of interest. They also have versions downloadable to Garmin gps.
