Default Wheelin Illinois Gulch on Sunday.. open invitation

Please forward this on to whom-ever you feel might be interested in joining us. Please plan on a Picnic type lunch.

Destinations:

Illinois Gulch - 344- http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=222
Long Hollow Road - FR 348 - http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=153
Missouri Gulch - 347- http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=219

Illinois Gulch is our main destination - the other 2 are simply options since they are right there.

We will be meeting up in the Safeway Gas Station Parking Lot at 9am in Castle Rock located just off of I25 and Plum Creek Parkway.

all 3 trails heads are within a couple hundred feet of one another (or so it shows on the map) - they are all located on Hwy 67 just south of Deckers on Hidden Valley Road - markings for "Rainbow Falls Park". Best way i can figure is to head out through Sadalia to Platte River road and head south through Deckers, continuing on to the destination.

Illinois Gulch is truely (IMO) the only true wheeling trail on the list - the others are just dirt roads in the woods. Illinois gulch is rumored to be a fairly simple trail with an obsticle at the end (optional obsticle) called Moab Hill - Which gives it its rating of 6 on the high end.

Here is a map of all the trail in colorado - http://www.traildamage.com/google_colorado.php . Zoom in on Deckers area for the 3 trails listed above if you would like a better notion of where we are headed.

Here are some videos of Illinois Gulch Moab Hill :

Yeah Illinois Gulch is pretty easy with the exception of "Moab Hill". Last time I went we just played around there for the majority of the time and then left.

That way will take you a lot longer...Meet at Wolfensberger (gas stations there), take to 105, make a left...Choice: Jackson Creek Road (rght) to Rampart (left) to Long Hollow (rght), or Dakan (rght), to Rampart (right) to Long Hollow (immediate left).

Gives you a little warm up (not much), plus its shortens the trip by quite a bit from Castle Rock...

Wish I could go, but I have a "honey do" list....
