.....Leadville, Frisco, Dillon, etc? I'm wanting to come do Holy Cross, SOB Hill and Hall Valley as soon as the spring thaw allows. Can anyone in the area give me a rough idea when Holy Cross and others in that region are "open" relative to snow and weather?

Is early May a realistic goal or does a guy have to wait until July/August.

id say at least june. i was up in that area around memorial day and there was still snow drifts blocking alot of the trails

 

Chris, this helps alot to hear from someone in the area (Denver's not all that far, and you were there). So, mid-June to be safe y'think? Or late June? Etc?

 

July is a safer bet...there will still trails snowed over until at least then. Heck Pikes Peak had snow on it until the 2nd week of July...

 

Mid-May last spring I was up not even as far as Dillon and ran into over 5 feet of snow on a trail. I wouldn't plan a trip until late June...

 

Great guys, I certainly appreciate the help. Sounds like waiting until we're well into July is the best "insurance" I can get so as not to spoil the trip.
