Default Where to wheel in New Mexico? preferrably around Roswell!

I am thinking about taking a winter wheelin trip to New Mexico in January and I hope to do some wheelin and snow boarding. I dont want to travel much more than 500 miles(+ or - 100 miles) from my house, mainly cuz I only want to do a 1 day drive. It is exactly 507 miles from my front porch to down town Roswell. Can someone help me out! Thanks!

If you are going to Roswell drive a little farther west and get into the Sacramento Mountains, then head to Cloudcroft. Plenty of wheel'n opportunities there. I live in Alamogordo, 20 minutes away from Cloudcroft and love the trails and woods that the Sacramento's have to offer. Roswell is flat, flat, flat. (Okay there may be some small rolling hills.)

The wife and I go up all the time since we live in Alamogordo. Drop me a line next time you are coming over and I would love to go backwoods with ya.
