Best GPS software for off road/topo maps?
I have a bluetooth GPS reciever and some software for my Treo (Palm OS) for on-road navigation. I'd like to be able to re-use the reciever but load up my Palm (ideally) or use my laptop to run some decent off-road GPS/mapping software (with breadcrumb and waypoint support, topo maps available, etc.)
I have a big book of trails in northern California, and they recommend software from Maptech (Terrain Navigator) but from Maptech's site it doesn't look like bluetooth GPS units are supported.
Anyone have experience with mapping software that they like?

I have the bluetooth GPS and a tablet notebook with the USATopoMaps...you can load the maps for the entire US...I have all the 250:1 and 500:1 loaded for the entire US and I have 30,000 files(small) loaded with 7.5:1 for off road...these are all Coast and Geodedic maps from TerraServer at Microsoft...the gps will feed the maps and your track will continually show center on the screen...I have tried all available systems and this is by far the most detailed, safest, and useful...numerous other capabilities...you already have 80% capability...JDMCox asks for a donation...you will be amazed...I have used it for three years and had it on two weeks 24/7 which in the Rockies...good luck
