Default Frequency of Caching

Just thought I would ask the question of how often you go caching and how often you actually needed you Jeep to get to the cache.

We try to go a least 1 day a week, but have been known to schedule week long vacations around geocaching. I wish we had more chances to use the Jeep for Geocaching, our area doesn't have a lot of places to get offroad but were always looking for caches that require 4x4.

I usually grab a cache or two when I am out on a run or on vacation. I rarely grab the local ones around my town. So to answer the question...not to often anymore.

When I do snag a few I make sure they are ammo can or larger. If I wanted to find small and micros I'll grab all the local caches around town not the micros in the forest or desert.

We run in spurts, sometimes nothing for 3 months and then 20 caches in a long weekend. Occasionally grab quick local caches in an evening. Try to cache when we're on the road but don't make it the primary reason we're travelling.

I have never needed the Jeep to get to a cache. But it's always made it more fun!

x2.

A two-hour round-trip, including 30 minutes one-way of hiking and bushwhacking, got me a camo'd film can in the crook of a tree along with a dozen ant bites. And I don't apologize for the nasty log entry. Especially since it was one of dozens.

A micro in the woods?? I hate those. If they are in the woods they should be atleast big enough for some SWAG.

4x4 cache about once a month.
Our group which varies from 3 or 4 vecihles to over a dozen has done Big Bear, Lauglin,
Anza Borrego area, Barstow, Essex, Calico, Cleghorn, etc.
This winter we plan on Kelso, Quartzite, back to Barstow area, Amboy, Salton Sea.
Open events, anyone can join.

Check this one out GC1HGNQ. We did this one yesterday its a 4 part multi in a wooded area behind a grocery store. All 4 parts are nano's, those little black magnetic containers. I was very leary about searching for it, but it wasn't to bad once we got past the first stage. Good coords make all the difference in the world and all 4 parts were perfect.

I've got somewhere around 800 finds and only a few of them required any 4x4.... sad to say.
