Jeepn' Geocachers!!!
My geocaching name is "instantclogger", same as on this forum. My husband and I started caching last June. We love it and are so addicted!
I had run across the term "geocaching" after getting a gps receiver for my pocket pc and decided to look it up. That was all it took. I was hooked before we even found any. We just got our 300th find a couple weekends ago. We have hidden 20 and are about to hide one that would require some offroading to get to it.

That's an interesting name the "instantclogger", would that have anything to do with clog dancing? Yup, geocaching can get under your skin and is very addicting.I started in 2005, slow at first then it got to the point I just had to get more and more. The Jeep sure has helped on those caches out in the desert where cars don't go.
ya know that's going to happen every so often, they just seem to grow legs for some reason. Muggles find them, take the stuff that's in the container and throw the container away so then you end up with a DNF (Did Not Find). Don't let that discourage you, just have fun.
I just got a GPS for Christmas-Garmin 500, which it has geocaching on it. i have not played with that part yet and really havn't heard of geocaching either but it sound very interesting so i'm going to check out the web sites that people have mentioned in this thread. If anyone has any tips or anything to help me get started please let me know.

Hi all,
I am JKK450 on GC. I just started yesterday and my kids and I found our first three caches. We started as a result of reading this thread!!! That's right, on Friday I was reading through this thread, then went over to GC to read up on it more. We already had a GPSr that my wife uses so I borrowed it, loaded it with about 20 locations that are close to my house, and yesterday morning the kids and I hit the road.
I can't tell you how much fun it was when we found our first geocache. We forgot to bring something to trade, so the kids were a little bummed that I would not let them take one of they toys with them. But we went back to the house to get trading stuff for our second find. My daughter brought a little easter egg as her trade, but the second find was a micro and not large enough to fit the egg into! She was crushed and cried for about 10 minutes. So we went back to the house again and picked up a selection of stuff. We hit the jackpot with our third cache. It was larger and contained about 10 kids toys. I told them they could trade one of their items for one of the items in the cache. They sat on the ground for about 5 minutes trying to decide what to trade. It was a ball!
I live near some trails off Lake Grapevine in the DFW area. I am going to head into the woods with my mountain bike today to see if I can find some of the caches out there.
My Jeep, my bike, some nice trails, a few geocaches, and writing about it on my blog. It doesn't get much better than that!
Thanks again! I'm hooked!

I just signed up today. A friend of mine has been into geocaching for a while and thought I would like it.
I used the first letter of myself, my wife, and each our kids for the GC username.
MAPNJK
Sort of seems logical considering the mode of transportation we will be using on the treasure hunts!

Okay...so where did Geocaching originate?
Where is the first Geocache?
Right here in Oregon!
Hard to believe we've been doing this 3 years in January. Kids have really grown.
