Best places in lower Michigan or Ohio to live and wheel
So the wife is from Michigan. I know she's homesick, we live 10 hrs from her family.
I have been to Mi a few times, and it seems nice. We got married in Port Austin and had honeymoon, part I, up in the UP.
I put my resume on cleared jobs and I'll see what bites, but there's not a lot of TS positions up there. Now, my company is based out of Ohio, so I could work in Dayton and fly out every few weeks to DC.
So I'm considering both MI & OH. Her family in MI is in Grand Rapids, Saginaw and Detroit. She also has a brother in Cinci.
My family lives in VA, WV & MD. So it's not too bad for me if I go to OH, but MI would be further out.
What are some nice places to look at? I've been checking out houses in MI & OH on websites.

For Detroit area, most of the surrounding suburbs are good spots - Livonia, Farmington Hills, Northville, Plymouth, Canton, Novi, West Bloomfield, etc... are good areas. I think I myself rather prefer the west side of the state though - almost anywhere surrounding Grand Rapids is fairly nice.
For wheeling, the vast majority of trails are in the National Forest areas (namely Manistee-Huron); so looking more towards the northern half of the lower peninsula and up for riding. Grand Rapids or Saginaw areas put you a little closer to those trails; I believe there are also some trails in the Thumb area as well. Most are fairly casual trails, with loose dirt and sand being the typical terrain.
There are a few ORV parks around, with the closest to Detroit being Bundy Hills, which is just south of Jackson, or the Mounds which is just north of Flint.
I can't really speak on Behalf of Ohio though.
