Question CB Radio Shop somewhere in Illinois/Indiana/Wisconsin that Installs CBs!

Ok,

Google Sucks. I'm trying to look for a CB shop that will install some equipment. I have no problem finding places who sell such equipment, but I am looking for someone to install it!! Any suggestions??

Also, I'm thinking either the Cobra 19 or the Cobra 75 - leaning towards the 75.

Sorry for using the Great Lakes forum for advice, but I thought this was more of a "regional" question then a technical one. Knowing my luck, you all installed them yourselves!

Thanks, again!!!

Installing a CB is really simple. I've got a Cobra 75 myself and love it. The important thing to remember is to make sure you have a good ground to the antenna mount and tune the set-up with an SWR meter. I've got one if you need a hand.

The hardest part is figuring out where you want to mount the radio!

Default If you really don't want to do it...

Find a local radio install shop. Call them and ask, some will. I installed my Cobra 75 by myself under the passenger seat.

LOL - I am terrible with electronics! But I've seen that people are always willing to help, I just feel like I'm bothering people when I ask...

Cpt, I saw some guys who mounted it underneath the glove box and had a cable routed through the bottom glove box plate. Is this similar to what you did??

I may have to do that. The only local shops I know are in Truck Stops. I was hoping to find one run by an old guy that looks like Sean Connery in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. That's someone that I'd trust

Thanks for the help, guys!

Don't limit yourself to CB shops. Some of the smaller alarm and radio install shops do great work because they need the word of mouth advertising. Take the pictures from the thread of how you want it and show them.

I mounted mine in the center console. It was a pain in the ass because you have to remove the console to do it. Mounting it in the glove box is MUCH easier. I just like it there better myself, but everyone has their own opinion.

And don't wory about asking questions or for help. Thats what we're here for!

I'm gonna start calling around. I had a CB Shop in Wolcott, IA quote me $380 for the setup I want, and that was with the Cobra 19 - the 75 was $450! seems a bit too high...

That's pretty sweet! I definitely want the Cobra 75. I may ask for help on this since I can't find anyone to do it (closer than 200 Miles from here, anyways). I'm taking Ed's advice, though. There are about 3-4 small radio shops around here and I'm gonna call around. Thanks again!
