Getting ready to do some modding...
Hey guys, I'm headed back to Indiana in a week or so and I'm planning on doing some pretty serious modding to the JK.
Plans are to put on a 3.5" Clayton lift, 35" toyo open country MTs, drive shafts, and get a rear tire carrier from Chris at LoD. I'm going to get ORE axle sleeves and C2 gussets too. My question is, do you think my front Dana 30 with these mods will be strong enough for the type of wheeling I (we) will be doing at the Badlands. I'm not going to get crazy and try to power my way up things I shouldn't but I'd like it to hold up long enough for me to get ARB's and new axle shafts. What do you think?

A Dana 30 got blown in this weekend's fun. (not mine, but in the JK fest at the Badlands that you missed by a week)
I'm thinking a more "manly" axle prior to gussets and such.
The innards seem to be the weakest link.

Glad to hear you are coming back safely and they didn't corrupt you in tx.
I sleeved and gusseted my 30 and it is holding up to some tough stuff. I think it all comes down to what you can afford. I also think that the one 30 that broke was for different reasons than just being a smaller axle. But that is just my opinion.
How's your dad's jeep doing?

sixt7gt350 - Yeah, I just saw that in the badlands thread. What was he doing when it broke?
Haha, well they still have a week to do it! I got to go wheeling on the washed out highway down by Galveston this weekend, but I didn't get any pics. Nothing too hard but it was fun anyway.
Sounds like you aren't having problems with your dana 30. The C2s and sleeves are only about $250 since I can install them myself, so I might just do that. If it breaks it won't be the end of the world I guess.
I'll get some pics up of his when I get back. I tried telling him how to do it, but didn't get anywhere. He's got some mickey thompson classic locks with 33" tires on there right now, and he has an Airock suspension system sitting in boxes waiting on me to get home to help him. I'm pretty excited about putting it on there. It should be pretty cool.

Texas is the brain decontamination zone.
He's a college student, full of indoctrination and programming.
