Help with a tire decision
So I finally pulled the trigger and ordered my 3" Teraflex lift from Northridge. Now I am trying to put together a wheel and tire combo. The wheels I am going with are the MB72 in matte black from Discount Tire Direct. My tire choices are either the GY Duratrac or the GY MTR/K. The only thing holding me back from the MTR/K is that we have a cabin up north that we use a lot for skiing so that means a lot of snow driving. Not sure how well the MTR/Ks do in snow, but the Duratracs I've heard are amazing, just not sure how well the Duratracs do in the mud. I love the look of both (the MTR/K a little more), but looks aside, I need them to function.
Any help, info, personal experience, pictures, etc. you could provide is appreciated.

My first set of tires on my Jeep were Duratracs. I only had them offroad once and thought they not only did well in the mud and cleaned up well but were amazing in the snow also. Scooter had a set also and probably has a lot more experience with his offroad than myself. The only reason I switched was because I'm moving to high desert country out west here soon and didn't need a snow rated tire.
I don't have any experience with the MTR/Ks to compare but as you are probably aware they will probably be better offroad in the mud but not as good as the Duratrac in snow or slick roads. I have read several reviews though that said MTR/Ks aren't too bad in snow either though. Some Discount Tire places will also sipe tires so you might be able to sipe the MTR/Ks and be almost as good as the Duratracs in snow.
You might also want to ask Discount Tire the availability of the MTR/Ks you want. I originally wanted those when I switched, but was told there was a 60+ day wait for the size I wanted so they recommended the Nittos I have now as a very comparable tire for my needs.

Cool, thank you for the feedback, there is quite a long wait on a lot of sizes. I think for the 4-season use my Jeep does see, and the packed snow roads of northern MI the Duratracs would be the best choice. Not the most aggressive looking, but way more aggressive than the BFG All-Terrains I have run on my other trucks.

Get the Kevlars and have them siped and let me know what you think. I've been running the Duratracs for a year and they are Great, but not sure what I'd replace them with when they are gone. Would love to go to the Kevlars, but am also worried about the winter performance.... Just for reference, I havn't been stuck with my Duratracs unless I was highsided on my axles.

Hehe, if I had money to spare I would take one for the team. I have heard nothing at all but good things about the Duratracs, pulled the trigger on 5 315/70R17s today. Can't wait for the lift, wheels and tires to get here
