I got rear-ended last night...
(thats what she said)
Hey guys, I got rear ended by some kid last night. I was driving home from work, on keystone, and stopped at a light and felt a bump. I couldnt figure out what had happened, I honestly thought my axle may have just broken (I always assume the worst with a Chrysler product, lol) but it took be about 5 seconds to figure out what had just happened.
So I pulled into a lot, and the other car followed. I got out to look at my damage, as I could see the other car had taken a fair amount, and I was amazed by what I saw. NOTHING! Turns out he ran into my hitch. Didnt even scratch my hitch! Then I looked at his car, a grand prix (03) and I am fairly sure it was totaled! It was leaking radiator fluid, folded up the hood, busted the bumper and light...needless to say, it was in BAD shape.
Turns out it was his mom's car which she had purchased the day before, and she was PISSED! Of course they had no insurance, but since I didnt take much damage I got their contact info, plates on the car, and went on my way.
This morning I took a real good look at it, and discovered my bumper on the right side (where that bulge is...idk what else to call it) has a small crumple line on its side, and thats about it! I will be taking the bolts out of the hitch to check for bending, and also check for a bent frame, but it was not a hard hit at all, and I highly doubt any harm was done. I have felt way worse bumps on the trail!
Moral of the story, DONT HIT A JEEP!

When I got rear ended in INDY, they towed the other guy cuz of no insurance. Then again, they may have needed a tow after the radiator leak.
There's a couple/few roads down there that I regularly travel on that I swear should filmed by ABC/ESPN for race worthiness...and have checkered flags at the end!!!
That's just one of those things that you really have to be careful with though. This will sound mean, but you aren't an expert....and when something like that happens you want to protect your investment. You get the cops/insurance involved because if something IS really wrong, you have something to protect your investment. I would have called the cops personally...that uninsured driver could hit someone next week...possibly destroying someone elses car...and that person could be left with nothing because of that driver not having insurance and he's still out on the road.

I remember when I was first learning to drive I took my moms car and totaled it. Come to find out she hadn't gotten insurance yet you want to talk about a beating god learned two thing never take mom's car without permission and second always have insurance. Luckily the cop let me go without any ticket after he try to back out on the road and couldn't because the state had put pea gravel down
