Default its a header!!!

so looks like somwhere along the trails at badlands last weekend i managed to crack my passenger side header and didnt realise it until 1 1/2 hours back towards chicago when my power left me and a ugly noise arrived. now do i go aftermarket or go the cheap route and stick a stock replacement on?

depending on how bad it is and what condition the metal is in, you might be able to weld it up on the cheap.

yeah just got back i had the mechanic weld the crack and saved alot so hopefully it holds

Depending on where it was, I guess he could have bumped it on a rock or log or something. Or, you know what would happen if you took hot metal and dunked it in cold water? Yeah... He definitley did that multiple times. Or maybe the massive 3.8 v6 just has so much torque that the exhaust couldn't handle all that power.

Coyote: Was it up by the motor or where the pipe crosses in front of the crossmember? If it was the latter, it is pretty vunerable to thrashing.

On a further note, I'm glad you could make it out to wheel with us. The more the merrier. And the deoderant pic is one of my favorites. That should be submitted to Old Spice.

where it was located on the upper part of the header it looks like it was "the hot pan into the sink" warpage type of crack

it wasnt too bad but i still have to put the fender flar back in place and try to make my tailpipe round again lol. fun times
