Jeep Jamboree Recommendations?
Hey everyone!!
First of all, I love the site and have gleaned a ton of useful information so far, and to that vein I ask my question.
I'm a new Jeeper and want to attend the Drummond Island, MI Jeep Jamboree this summer. I have an '07 X that is completely stock apart from a few interior accutrements I've added. I'm purchasing a set of 17' Moabs and hope to add some BFG's with a more aggressive tread than the stock Goodyear RS-A's that are on them currently.
What I'm looking for are other suggestions of what I should add/need to have a successful and enjoyable time. I don't want to play on the kiddy Jeep trails, but am not ready to tackle a 6-8 trail either.
If anyone has any experience with Drummond Island, that info would be really helpful as well.
Thanks again for the great forum!!

I think u should upgrade to a minimum of 33s. get some wheel spacers and a leveling kit, some decent 33s. wheel it like that for while.
Jamborres are a lot of fun. If u dont change ur tires out, be prepared to get strapped a fair amount, the stock tires that come on jeeps are aweful.

We did a Drummond Island run last fall! Here's a link to the thread about the trip. Check it out there are a few good pictures!

I know I can't speak for everyone who went on the trip last year, but I know that I had a great time! I'll be setting up another Fall Colors Trip to Drummond Island this fall and you're more than welcome to join us.
I can't justify spending the type of money it costs to attend a jeep jamboree when you can hook up with a great group of guys for free here. In my opinion I would say that money is better spent on a modest lift or in the case of Drummond Island a snorkel. I know first hand that a stock JK can handle most of the trails out there. Out of our group last year only a handful were lifted and everyone was running the stock suspension and tires.
Hope I was able to help

Skid plates underneath, lift, wheels/tires --- in that order. For anyone new, I will always recommend those items. Now the size of lift, wheels, tires is all up to what you want to do.
Skid plates are an investment. Helps keep your jeeps guts protects--top priority in my opinion. I can't say anything about Drummond Island in particular, but doing those things will keep you having fun on most trails, regardless of the difficulty.

Couldn't agree more. If you want to go check out a trail and haven't already been there, post it here and someone will join you that has some experience. Save your money for other goodies.
I have been on the Drummond Island Jamboree twice. the trails are just a dirt road with some long and deep mud holes.
The off road park is OK. Hill climbs, rocks, ect.
Mike and his crew are a great bunch of trail guides. They will go out of there way to help. They will put you in a group of new people and stock Jeeps. If you over look Trail Nurse trying to act like a boss, you can have a good time.
Personaly, I will not spend the $295.00 to go again when you can go with the JK guys. The Jamboree food is not that good, on this trip.

Thanks for the great info so far!!
I told the wife last night that I have a Jamboree budget in mind in prep for the trip. So far I'm planning on adding:
17" Moab wheels
BFG M/T LT255/75R17 tires
MOPAR extended rock rails
ARB Recovery Kit (straps, snatch block, tree saver, etc.)
First Aid Kit
Roll Bar mounted Fire Extinguisher
If budget and time permit: TeraFlex 2.5" BB w/shocks
Now as to cost. I want to bring my oldest son and my nephew along, both are 13-14 years old. Do I need to pay the $600 family price for registration, or just the $295 for me?
Also, any advice on an affordable place to stay?
Thanks again!!

The following (paragraph (4):
http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(niuwtz45v1quhnbhgbkcerze))/mileg.aspx?page=getobject&objectname=mcl-257-710c
states that coil spaceers are prohibited. You may want to consider that when selecting your lift.

I did Drummond Island 2 years ago. You can go at it stock without too much trouble. The guides won't let you go where you cant. Just hop you dont mind bone jarring trails. Not much soil between you and the hard rock of the island.
