Default Jeep Wave absent in SE Michigan?

Okay, I know I'm a new Jeeper, but I've had many friends over the years that were and taught me about the Jeep Wave.

Since I've gotten mine, I've received no waves or waves back. Is this yet another tradition that has gone by the wayside?

What's your take SE Michigan Jeepers? Am I imagining things or what?

We are in the Ann Arbor area and get waves all the time. Are you waving correctly? LOL

The only place we do not get waves is up at Silver Lake Dunes....too many jeeps your hand gets tired.

I'm in Ann Arbor and waved at a Jeep today. My wife said they ignored me. I said he waved! He did a finger wave from the top of the steering wheel. I have seen less return waves with the cold weather. I figure my black gloves are to blame for some of that.

well when i lived in Oakland county/ genesee county (spelling?) it was 50/50. I noticed most of my returned waves came from the older crowd where as the kids my age wouldn't do anything like that. I think the jeep wave isn't getting passed on unless you join a local club and they tell you about it (mine did dunno if they're around any more) or you get lucky and the sales rep at the dealer or guy you bought it from tells you. I'm moving to texas in June so I hope they know about the wave there as no Italians know about it but surprisingly enough when I went to visit friends in Germany the germans knew about the jeep wave.

I would say its about 50/50 also, I live in Coldwater (US12 and I69 interchange) and work about 15 minutes from Cabella's off of the 23. When I drive the jeep to work it is hit or miss. Sad if you ask me, I am from AZ and it was very very rare to not get a jeep wave out there.

I go from Grand Blanc to Novi everyday. I get a ton of waves. Alive and well when I am driving.

I find it is ALOT more common with Jeeps that are modified.

Happy Trails!

I wave at everyone, modified or not, but I do agree, a modified jeep is much more likely to respond, the ones that get me are the stockers that stare as they pass by but don't acknowledge the wave.

I am around Novi and I find that 80 - 90% of the unlimiteds don't wave. Most are stockers look to be driven by middle aged women.
