Default Meet N Greets

So I've seen lots of posts about Meet n Greets or Grubs N Suds, whatever you want to call them. Since most of them have been hours away I haven't been able to work them in. I'm thinking about trying to get something started in my local area since I see a lot of Jeeps around. Some are built up pretty well, but I can't tell if they are ever off-road. Most of the others are mostly stock, but again, I can't tell if they are ever off-road.

Anyway, I haven't ever been to one so I'm wondering what exactly happens? Is it just check out each others Jeeps and shoot the shit talking about past trail experiences? Then maybe get some drinks? I'd kind of like to find some other people in the area that might be interested in checking out some trails and I thought this might be a good way to make it happen.

I was thinking about just making up some fliers and post them around, maybe just drive around town and put some under wiper blades of some of the jeeps I've seen around.

Any thoughts?

Hey Jpeck!

yes are Suds n Grubs is a group of people around the Chicago Land Area we wheel together and like to put on these events for anybody to come and look at each others jeeps. the stock guys can get some Idea's on what they want to do with there jeeps and in some cases what not to do to your jeep after we shoot the shit for awhile we go in and get some dinner and drinks and talk about future wheeling trips and what not.

sorry forgot to give credit to the person that started these suds and grub events "WARPEDGUY!!!"

Yeah, jake pretty much covered it. Your a good 3-1/2 hours from us, but we seem to travel well if you decide to put one together. I love the flier idea. About 10 years ago I had an Avalanche and we had fliers we could print from our forum to put on windshields to invite newbies. You know that Jeeps have a way more fanatical following than that truck forum would ever have. Go for it. If it works, post it up! If you set a S&G out by you, I'm sure you will attract more folks than you expect.

the flier idea is great. Pick a date and just see what happens. It will grow from there. We started with just a few and then it went from there.

Thanks for all the info! I'll put something together and see what happens. It'll probably have to be a few months from now. There's a guy in town that has a 40s/50s Willys that I saw at the gas station over the summer. It'd be awesome to get him to come and get the story on his.

I'll post it when I get the details.
