Default Need a little help

I am need of replacing my front driveshaft. I thought about just going with oem, but it will result in the same outcome. What has anyone gone with and cost? I have looked around a little, but need to know who has some experiences with one or another are. I know David sells some and saw that 4wd has a ton. I only need a 1310. Any suggestions?

I had a Woody on my xj. Tom Woods driveshaft, that is. He custom makes them and I have never read one bad thing about his shafts. Plus you get a cool "it's a woody" sticker!

Hey DB, I put on a Tom Woods 1310 on the front of mine this past fall, so far so good, seems to be a real top notch item, and from all the write ups they have a good rep., and using a buddies lift, it only took about an hour or so to take apart and replace the drive shaft, ( with a cold one in between! )

I ordered mine direct from Tom Woods, they were real easy to work with, get on their web site and they explain how, what, where, when etc.... and when I called, it was Tom himself who answered the phone!!!! cool to get to talk to the head guy on the phone!!!

I am leaning toward the Tom Woods because of the same reasons, although the Reels look nice. I haven't heard one negative comment about the Woodys from anyone. I might be making a trip sometime to see you Dex, to check yours out. That is great that you have already done yours. When you replaced it what else did you need with the driveshaft to get it installed, parts-wise? Dex, I hadn't seen your sig lately. It looks like you have been busy with the Jeep.

Okay, after looking at their website, it looks like the driveshaft comes with everything to make it a bolt on. Dex, did you send them a measurement when you purchased yours?

yes, I just followed their directions... I was told to do the measurements with the jeep on the ground, I did mine on a lift, but they had done enough of these that they knew what I needed....
It was a simple swap...

I still need to put on the rear bumper/carrier, and my flex arms,,, I would like to do gears and flat fenders before spring also....
DB, lets meet up in the fort sometime and grab a cold one..... anyone else too....

Post Front Shaft

Looks like you are leaning towards Woods. I bought a ProComp non-cv style from 4WDHDWR, it came with the new flange for the transfer case shaft, and bolts right up to the stock front diff flange. Only had it since Nov, and put less than 1000 miles on it so far, none off road yet. Plenty of clearance around it compared to the stock shaft. I am running a Skid Row engine / trans skid.
Good luck w/ your decision.

Thanks john! What did you end up having to give for the procomp? Just curious.

It was right at 400.00, with tax. I got 20% off, and no shipping as I picked it up at 4WDHDWR in Indy. Took about two hours to install, most of that was getting the nut on the transfer case loose w/out an air wrench.
