Sept 25th, 26th Drummond Island Run
Hey guys I know a few of you have shown an interest in going on a trip to Drummond island in the Fall Colors thread. The trails on the island range from something a stock X or sport can handle to a bit more extreme and everything I've seen looks like a ton of fun. I took a look at the fall colors chart for Michigan and according to the chart that week is when the colors peek for the U.P.

It'd be great to have you guys come along! I know a few have been up there before and had nothing but good things to say about the island so I'm definitely looking forward to going. I'm still undecided on the official fall colors run myself because it really is just a dirt trail through the woods. Nothing challenging and for me and thats a big drive just for a mellow drive through the woods.
I went to Drummond Island for the first time this past May. Really great experience. I did not go to the ORV park (Turtle Ridge), but did run the trails to Marble Head and Shale Beach. I bet it will be really pretty late September, and there are a few challenges that make it fun. Be aware that some trails are narrow and you will scrape the sides of the Jeep on branches and such. Unfortunately I will be traveling for work for two weeks and can't make it. Would love to go with fellow Jeepers.
Some motivation:

(The stairs of Marble Head - about the most elevation change I saw)

(Shale Beach)

I might be up for this too. I just pulled it up on mapquest.....its almost 9 hours from Chicago
So, I have to ask is it worth the drive? I was planning on doing the fall colors run but this looks a bit more tempting. Heck if ya think its really worth the 9 hr drive I just might do this solo and the fall colors bring the ole lady.

The more the merrier.
For those who said they might be interested in going..... are you guys thinking about tent camping or wanting to find a motel or cabin somewhere? Let me know so I can start working the details out.
