Default Shifter Cable issue!

Just wanted all my Great Lakes friends to know about a known issue with 4wd shifter cable. I was putting my Jeep from 4wd into 2wd and my shifter lever broke loose. After much research on our awesome jk-forum I found the issue. Under the console the cable is connected with a plastic bushing. After time that bushing gets weak. Once that bushing breaks the cable comes off. Once that happens you are stuck in the gear your in. Go to this link for answers. https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...linkage-repair

Carry some zip ties if your parts dept is out of the bushings...they will work in a pinch.

Did you replace both ends or just the bushing in the console? I think I will fix mine before it breaks.

I have not taken the transfer case shift knob off. I have taken the manual gear box shifter knob off. That baby is really on there. It took me several minutes to find it in the Jeep. I can't imagine how far it would have gone with no top on outside.

I tried everything on my 2011 to get the transfer case shift knob off. That thing didn't even budge!
