Venting Thread: Dupage Dodge Chrysler Jeep
Alright, so I feel the need to vent here based on the recent turn of events over the course of the last month or so.
I remember it briskly, just a 7 short weeks ago when I brought my still young JK into Dupage Dodge Chrysler Jeep for an oil change and to have a squeeky drivers seat taken care of. No big deal, right?
Yeah, well it took two trips back to the deal before they could confirm the problem decide what they were going to do about it. Then in the process of replacing the the seat brackets and the seat bottom they some how managed to scratch the plastic on the door panel and center console along with some other interior parts and not install the cloth cover for the seat bottom properly. I drop it to have them replace the door panel, properly install the bottom seat cover and perform some warranty work. The only problem is when I got it back with some scratches in paint on the door and the seat bottom cover again not properly installed. When I brought it back for them to install the part for warranty work I point out the scratches and again point out the problem with seat bottom cover. The response I get is "We've had several of our technicians look at this and they say it's installed properly. We even had our most senior technician with over 15yrs experience look at it and confirm it's installed properly." I then kindly walked him to the the other side of the vehicle and point out that it's not. I simply said, "You seen how nice and taught the cloth comes over the side. Feel the bottom there, do you feel how rigid that is where the plastic clips to a metal rod that runs along the sides and the front of the seat. Now I've got ZERO years technical automotive experience but I do have two eyes that seem to function pretty well and a heap of common sense that told me something just wasn't quite right." SO I dropped it off yet again the other day to have the scratches touched up and the seat addressed. I feel totally hosed because they dealer fvcked up my Jeep and they flat out refused to provide a loaner or rental vehicle for me (don't even get me started on that one). Mind you I dropped it off Tuesday night and still don't have my rig back.
Who knows, maybe a BMF steel I Beam got dropped on it and they're afraid to call me with the bad news.
So I guess the moral of the story here is if you live in the western suburbs of Chicago steer clear of Dupage Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Wheaton.

That really bites man....
I really don't understand why some dealers have to be jack offs, and don't do good by their customers!
I run a business, and customer satisfaction is our most important job! along with product quality...
I would think a dealer would want to make sure all their customers were satisfied with them especially in today's automotive climate!
Good luck, and maybe write a letter to Chrysler and let them know what kind of dealer they have...

F***'em! Go to another dealer (hopefully that's an option). Were you dealing with the Service Mgr if so include his name in that letter. How pathetic, All their "top mind's looked at seat and declared "Yup! that looks about right"
The plastic getting a little scratched I guess I could understand but the paint is just careless bullshit. Good luck.

Unfortunately we don't have a lot of choices. Can anyone make any recommendations? I was at Naperville Jeep and liked them but they were tossed. (I'm in Downers Grove). I pass Larry Rosche (sp?) on my way to work and tried them. (I have a oil change book from Chrysler and 1 or 2 changs left, not sure as I have 34,000 miles and 2 coupons left, not sure if they'll go over the 36,000) Took over an hour. As I wandered around waiting, I saw 1 Jeep for sale and none being worked on. Not sure I trust them. What about in Countryside? Anyone? Thanks
3 times for the same thing in Michigan we start talking lemon law and they snap to attention. If you have the same law in Illinois might be worth a mention? I am sure they would hate to lemon out a car for a seat cover...
Call corporate too. Had some issues with our Commander and had to call corporate to get the loaner... They approved after a lengthy conversation.

Well I'm happy to say things are starting to look up a little bit regarding this whole fiasco. The not so good good news is due to my squeaky seat issue has creaated quite a stir with the dealer as well as Chrysler. It's almost comical that noone at Chrysler can actually provide an answer as to why this bracket is being left off on any replacement seat they're shipping. Is it a change in the way they're manufacturing the part? Is it a change in the supplier who is manufacturing the part? Is there an additional part number which needs to be ordered? Regardless of the humor I'm deriving from some of this at least this is on their radar and the dealer is not treating me like I'm crazy. Even better they have another '08 in there for the same issue. The dealer has even come around and is appeasing me for the B/S I've dealt with due to the damage they've caused to my rig. As I not so delicately put it the Service Director; "I asked that you give me coupons/vouchers for 3 to 5 oil changes and was told the most you would give me is one. Now I could be a real ass and make you replace the center console because of the scratches you put in the side of it, but I'm not going to be that kind of an ass hole." He then offered me a one of those Chrysler Oil change contracts for my trouble on top of the one free one I have already.

Thanks for the input, but that's a little too much a of hike for me travel for service.
Since my initial post things have been worked out reasonably well. I am a little ticked that I had to go through all the hassle, but they're at least did something to try and make it partially right. The thing that gets me most is trying to get to a final resolution with getting my drivers seat repaired properly. This is being held up because Chrysler/Jeep doesn't have a clue about the part which is not being included.
We'll see how it goes as I'm back to square one with a my drivers seat squeeking again and now my passenger seat is squeeking.
Ahh well, I didn't buy the Wrangler knowing I was getting an automobile with the build quality of a BMW.
