Default What is Baldwin area wheeling like at Christmas?

I live in northern Indiana, starting to think about taking the family for a snow run around Baldwin OR ? ? ? over Christmas break.

What will the area be like in December?

Is there somewhere else I should consider?

Not looking for hard core stuff, just want to have fun in 4 wheel drive. (have 37's, so not afraid either, but wife does not like rock crawling etc)

Thanks for any and all input! :-)

I haven't been there in December but in July I ran the tin cup trail. I would have been hard pressed to find a rock. There is a lot of sand. This trail has a lot of trees too. You won't be seeing any vast vistas. We did see some deer. My wife and kids thought it was boring. We did do Silver Lake the day before so that might have something to do with it.

That time of year can be variable for snowfall. Some more local can talk better about that.

It looks cool!

I'd be down for it this upcoming winter.

A little farther north is the city of Mesick which has trails along the Manistee river that can be very scenic. One thing to watch out for is forest roads that are designated snowmobile trails, I believe it's illegal to ride on these. There are plenty of forest trails asround Baldwin that a pretty in the winter. Snow may be a big factor where you will be able to wheel, it can get deep up there.
