Does anybody here deal in antique firearms?
I am looking for an early flint lock rifle to hang over the mantel of my fireplace in our new home. (old colonial farm house style)
Don't want to spend thousands of dollars on something, and it won't be used for more than decoration, just want a nice looking rifle...

Sorry mate, I don't even know anyone with a C&R. Usually a good chance to find someone with a C&R though at a local gun show. They would have the best line on getting a non-collectors Hawken or something similar.

Since you are looking for a "black powder" rifle, you do not need to go through dealer. Probably the cheapest route to go would be to get a kit from Cabela's. I have never done the blued a gun before, but I have finished a few stocks. I can give you a hand with it. Also, there are a few swap meets in the area that often have firearms. Occasionally I see what you are looking for.

Hey dude!!!
I am actually looking for an antique!!! a real deal 200 year old flint lock!!! something from the late 1700's to the early 1800's!!!! Something from the revolutionary period....
It does'nt have to fire, I am just going to hang it over my fireplace mantel, so all I'm interested in is the patina!!!!
So if you happen to come across something like that, give me a ring....
