Default Civilian Marksmanship Program

Just as an FYI if you don't know about, I would recommend that you visit the CMP before the new "Enlightened Leaders" take power.

The CMP is a great US Government Program that sells and disposes of old US Army Rifles (M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, Springfield, etc).

Their rifles are outstanding and they have really forwarded marksmanship since after WW1. But, they are Congressionaly funded and you know what that means.

The caveat to purchase and be a buyer is:

1. Proof of Marksmanship/Firearms Training or similar arms training (A Course taken or a DD-214/Active Duty is sufficient)

2. Membership in a recognized shooting club or similar (I used my VFW membership)

3. Two forms of US ID

4. A notorized form that you fill out

here is the link to their site and sales catalog: http://www.thecmp.org/

If you ever wanted to get a Garand or Carbine, I would highly suggest that you do so shortly. I placed an order for a great collectors grade M1 and am still waiting for it. I spoke with them today on the phone and they have been receiving about 1300 orders a week!

Sorry but my beloved M-14's are not available yet through the CMP.
