Okay, I have been looking around for something different, and I was just wondering if any FN owners could give me some inputs on either the FS2000 or the PS90.
Any help appriciated!

The FS-2000 is probably one of my absolute favorite rifles. My father owns one and I used it with great success in an IDPA Rifle Match. It is a very accurate rifle and uses the same mags as the AR-15/M-16. It just seems to fit very well up against my shoulder and with the bullpup design, it is very compact. The barrel sticks out only a few inches from the front handguard yet the barrel is 17.5 inches long. The brass just simply falls out the front making it easy to pick up and does not land in your buddy's shirt collar. Simply put... I love everything about that rifle, except for one thing.... it is Damn Expensive! I have seen it anywhere from $1800 - $2600 and given the state of the things with the current election, you will probably not find one at 1800. I found one this weekend for 2399 at Gander Mountain.
Now, down to the P-90... great round. I carry the 5-7 pistol as my CCW. The P-90 on the other hand, had a few problems but keep in mind, it may have been operator error. I shot it many times and did not really have issues but whenever my father shot it, the magazine would unseat for some reason... and your face is sitting on top of that mag and an exposed chamber... when you fire the gun with the magazine loose... gasses fly up into your face and eyes - Very Dangerous. I really think my dad was brushing up against the mag release for some reason (even though there are two tabs to pull the mag up - one on each side) and causing the mag to pop up after the first shot. The Secret Service and other agencies have adopted this weapon with great success. It is very compact and has, as mentioned before, a great round. The SS-190 AP round will penetrate Level III Body Armor and 48 layers of kevlar at 200yrds. Although it has great AP capabilities, once it hits flesh, it starts tumbling. Houston SWAT shot a hostage taker in the chest and split is heart in half. Great ballistics for a PDW. Having said all that.... I still prefer the FS-2000. They make AR Uppers that hold the 50rnd P-90 mags on top and shoot the 5.7x28... but I have not tried that one yet. Ohhh BTW, the 5.7 round is the exact same as the .223 only at 28grains instead of the 55 for GI Ball and the case is obviously smaller.
Here are some pictures for you:

Me holding the FS-2000:

Brass Ejecting (Keep in mind, this is not full auto, just sometimes it may hold several spent cases in the ejection tube at a time... it may puke several out at a time... or one for each shot, it is random... this is normal. LOL):

Me holding the FS-2000 again with a Night Vision Scope & Infared Laser:

I added some quick pics to describe the FS-2000 for you (Mag Release Note: you only need to use one... but there are two to choose from):

Haha, I'm joking. Very nice collection there. I really like the FiveseveN. Idon't own one....yet, but it's the next one on my list.
And you basically answered my question about the PS90 and the FS2000. I know they're very expensive, and I probobly won't be getting one in the near future, but I do like them. All I would ever use them for anyway would be range firing, and possibly matches.
I knew about the ammo for them too. The 5.7 round is great because of its comparability of a 9mm, but with less recoil for more controllability.
But anywho, thanks for the info.

Found this old thread and thought I would give it a bump.
I am about to purchase a PS90. So far the price has not changed much in the past couple of years, I have been lurking in the background watching, you can find them for less than $1700 with the rail.
I am looking for a rifle to use for defense and the 5.7 round has proven itself to be very effective. I have never been a big fan of the AR, although I could get a nice one for half the price of the PS90.

The PS90 would be a very workable choice for home defense. If it fits you, and you practice with it, and you are running appropriate ammo...fill yer boots
Personally, I prefer my AR's...but that's personal preference. The .223 is a more effective round overall than the 5.7...but that's not saying that the 5.7 is not an effective round. It behaves a lot like a rifle round, but the total amount of energy is more in line with what a pistol cartridge delivers. Still...you could do a LOT worse. Especially since the PS90 is quite easy to shoot well if you apply yourself and get some training.
You're far better off with one or two rounds on target from a PS90 than a dozen rounds that aren't on target from an AR.

I haven't studied the terminal ballistics of a 5.7 round, but from what I understand it isn't a bad round at all. I want my next purchase to be a PS90, but haven't figured out how to pay for it yet. I have a FiveseveN pistol and really like it. First time at the range with the pistil I was hitting 8" pie plates at 100 yards. The 5.7 round flies fast and flat.
